Makeup Brushes are one of the more important makeup tools to have in your makeup bag but with the huge variety and brands available which ones do you choose? Good quality brushes when looked after can last you decades (yes I said it!)
Here are my top recommended long lasting makeup brushes.
Best, Long Lasting Face Makeup Brushes
The type of foundation brush you choose depends on the finish you are looking for. For more coverage, a traditional foundation brush like the one shown below.
Or a buffing brush (the pink one) like this helps to stipple on blend while adding coverage.
I love this Real Techniques brush 402 to buff in my foundation, its small size gives me control on where I am putting the product. In fact, I love to keep several of these handy for most of my face products cream and powder. For the price, I feel it’s a useful multi use brush.
For concealer a flat brush is great for more coverage and a rounder fluffy brush for a softer coverage (when you don’t need too much concealer).
Best, Long Lasting Eye Makeup Brushes
A flat eye shader brush is great to pack on the color, a patting motion on the eyelid gives the most color payoff. I usually like to pick my eye brushes according to the lid space. The bigger the lid space, the bigger the brush it can accommodate.
Round fluffy brushes or blending brushes are great for adding a soft color either all over the lid or only in the crease. You would use these types of brushes in a buffing motion (think windshield wiper). The same idea goes for these brushes, larger the lid space, the bigger the brush.
The Mac 217 or Sigma E24 are versatile eye brushes for the crease, outer corner or a soft wash over the lid.
A pencil brush like the Sigma E30 is amazing for a smoked-out eyeliner (works beautifully in blending out a wonky eyeliner) and for a soft application of eyeshadow on the lower lash line.
If you find it challenging to apply eyeliner, try a firm slanted brush like this one, it's excellent for shaping eyebrows AND creating precise eyeliner lines.
Best, Long Lasting Lip Makeup Brush
Lip brushes may feel unnecessary but works great when you want your lipstick to stay on longer, to have precision in defining the lip shape and having control over the intensity of the lip color.
It’s important to select brushes that align with your specific needs, whether it’s a flawless foundation finish, precise eyeshadow application, or a long-lasting lip color.
The brushes I’ve mentioned are some of my go-tos, and with a little care, they’ll be around for years.
